Eyewear Designer

KOMONO is searching for a truly amazing eyewear designer who will concept and illustrate some of the most beautiful frames on the market. We’re looking for someone who can translate an idea into a wearable concept that fits a wide array of faces. This is the perfect position for a designer who has an eye for detail, excels at meeting deadlines, and stays organized with complete ease.

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of KOMONO’s design and development of eyewear from concept through production. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Create and manage all functional elements in Product Development process, including but not limited to: Tech Packs, Spec Sheets and Bill Of Materials (B.O.M.).
  • Identify Key market trends and develop strategies to enhance the brand’s market position.
  • Actively provide appropriate designs with regard to cost/value, fit and performance, manufacturability, sustainability and aesthetic finish with a consumer-oriented point of view.
  • Negotiate costing with vendors/suppliers to achieve margin targets with high quality execution is a bonus.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • 3+ years of experience in eyewear design in the industry, preferably international.
  • Sound knowledge of the eyewear fashion industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of the product design process including trend, forecast, colour, styling, construction and fit.
  • Experience in the product development process.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with deadline-driven and detail-oriented attitude.
  • Understanding the needs of the market, retailers, suppliers and merchandisers.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Illustrator and Photoshop), including proficiency in vectoring and rendering art files.
  • 3D CAD/rendering software knowledge is a must – Rhino, Keyshot.
  • Reliability, conscientiousness and ability to work under pressure.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
